Grand Canyon Education (GCE) is an educational service company that provides an array of support services in the post-secondary education sector. Formerly part of Grand Canyon University (GCU), GCE still supports and works closely with GCU. GCE designs and develops educational programs for GCU and other traditional campus institutions, as well as online partner institutions at the undergraduate, graduate and doctoral levels.

Grand Canyon Education’s travel department is seeking a full time Travel Coordinator.  This position will report to the Travel Manager and work Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The Travel Coordinator establishes training, procedures, and guidelines for student worker team and assist with training and overseeing student worker team.


  • Monitors and delegates SharePoint workload to Campus Event student workers
  • Maintains a 2 business day SLA for Campus Event requests; monitors and informs management of any issues meeting SLA
  • Provides various Excel and web/cloud-based travel reporting or metric reports, which includes data maintenance of Excel spreadsheets
  • Maintains the Campus Event group e-mail box, replies to e-mails, files e-mails appropriately
  • Maintain Campus Event Travel training manual, updating information when changes occur
  • Trains new student workers on Campus Event travel booking process
  • Assists in booking airline reservations using our online booking tool for Campus Events, when needed
  • Reviews all new student worker reservations for accuracy prior to ticketing for the first 90 days after hire, length may be extended if needed in order to obtain accuracy
  • Oversees quality review of the hotel credit card authorization transactions, reviewing for quality and timely correction of missing receipts
  • Creates and maintains group travel manifests.
  • Oversees the airport parking voucher process.
  • Assists with audits, monitoring procurement-card activity and usage patterns, investigating unusual charges and recommending appropriate action.
  • Identifies industry-related trends and internal-related trends and provides resource analyses.
  • Assists Corporate Travel department in evaluating the effectiveness of travel vendors to ensure cost management and efficiency.
  • Works with travelers on resolving issues related to travel reservations, or elevates issues to Corporate Travel Manager, when needed.
  • Assists with other travel-related projects as requested.


  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in a related field from a regionally accredited institution.
  • Three years’ related work experience, preferably in a corporate travel environment.
  • A combination of education and relevant work experience may be substituted upon hiring manager’s approval.
  • Provide a positive example to students by supporting the University’s Doctrinal Statement, Ethical Position Statement and Mission of Grand Canyon University.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Good analytical skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
  • Self-motivated with sound reasoning and judgment.
  • Strong customer service skills with good communications skills and ability work effectively with culturally-diverse individuals.
  • Ability to work with employees at all levels within the organization and maintain confidentiality of information.
  • Proficiency with MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook), and ability to work with software databases in a web-based environment, create and retrieve reports.
  • Ability to adapt to a fast-paced, continually changing work environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Ability to complete work within prescribed time constraints and meet deadlines.
