Job Title: Marketing Research - Student Ad Agency Market Researcher (NFWS)

Purpose within the Organization:

As our Student Ad Agency market researcher, you’ll be responsible for performing extensive research on various markets with the goal of informing your student agency co-workers and clients on what marketing strategies to employ to promote the organization’s brand/products/services. Duties include analyzing a company’s demographics, monitoring all competitors, and issuing findings in detailed reports or presentations. Working closely with the agency’s Consumer and Competitive Research team, you’ll provide vital information to help the team make decisions on the promotion, distribution, and design of products or services. Must have strong analytical, writing and presentation skills. A marketing background and understanding of data analysis software are preferred.

Responsibilities Related to Purpose:

Including, but not limited to, the following:

  • Perform market research (situational analysis, SWOT, competitive, demographic/ psychographic, etc.).
  • Gather statistical data on competitors.
  • Meet with marketing management to ascertain client’s specific needs and objectives and then determine marketing objectives, strategies and tactics.
  • Help create target audience profiles and buyer personas.
  • Conduct opinion research to determine public attitudes.
  • Keep marketing management informed of progress and potential issues and make recommendations to ensure plans are on strategy.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite, (Word, Outlook, Project, Excel, PowerPoint, and Publisher), MS Project or similar project management software, social media platforms.
  • Above average with Microsoft Excel and aggregating/analyzing data.
  • Ability to maintain relationships through effective interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to create and effectively present routine marketing information ensuring contextual relevancy of information and responding appropriately and intelligently to questions.
  • Excellent oral and written communications, a good command of the English language and ability to provide clear and succinct communications among all stakeholders.
  • Must be able to demonstrate succinct and clear information to all stakeholders to gain approval and understanding relative to efficacy of marketing campaigns.
  • An ability to translate research findings into effective marketing strategy.
  • Good attention to detail, analytical and networking skills. · Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Broad-based knowledge of marketing principles and concepts.
  • Ability to work in high-volume, high-demand environment and work with ever-changing boundaries and priorities.

Education and/or Experience:

  • Enrolled at GCU as a full-time student in a Bachelor’s program or Master’s program.
  • Retain a 2.0 GPA as a Bachelor level student or a 3.0 GPA as a Master level student.
  • Maintain good financial and academic (SAP) standing with the University.
