Are you solution-oriented and have a passion for administering server operations? Grand Canyon Education is seeking a Senior Systems Administrator to provide strategic oversight and hands-on administration of all Windows Server and application patching. The Senior Systems Administrator will have a flexible mindset and can adapt quickly to changes and challenges. The Senior Systems Administrator will observe and learn how to better understand and improve the patching processes, while working closely with management, security, and other systems administrators. The Senior Systems Administrator will also help identify remediation needs, implement solutions, and is an exceptional steward of time and resources.

While this position is a Phoenix, AZ based role, this position offers a flexible hybrid working environment. There may be department meetings or training's that require in-person attendance (proper health and safety measures will be followed), in which advance notice will be provided.

What you will do:

  • Primary for performing administration for patching automation using Ansible, Foreman, WSUS, SCCM for all Windows and Linux servers

  • Moderate to advanced scripting and coding skills for creating patching playbooks and automation scripts for Ansible, Foreman, WSUS, and SCCM.

  • Responsible for adherence to critical business environments patch compliance and reporting for auditing. 

  • Part of team responsible for supporting and managing Microsoft Products such as: CRM Dynamics, xRM, Biztalk, Great Plains, Exchange, MS SQL, AD and Azure Cloud. 

  • Shares in server operations and application support of production, QA and Dev applications provisioned on physical and virtual servers. 

  • Improving department efficiencies with automation and process enhancements 

  • Maintaining consistent service levels of multiple on-premise data centers and cloud environments, including Microsoft O365, SharePoint Online, and other cloud products. 

  • Soft skills that include coordinating meetings and communicating with non-technical staff on project requests 

  • Monitors and performs ongoing performance tuning and resource optimizations as required 

  • Supports existing businesses, reviews and recommends more efficient IT solutions 

  • Communicates effectively to identify needs and evaluate alternative business solutions and strategies 

  • Works regularly after business hours and provides after hours on-call support

What you need:

  • Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of directly related work experience, certifications and education may be substituted upon management’s approval.

  • Any technical certifications is a plus. 

  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) to facilitate delivery of IT solutions for business needs. 

  • Technical understanding of enterprise computing solutions.

  • Experience with Ansible playbook creation, creating/using roles, and Ansible inventory management.

  • Experience managing and using Ansible Automation Platform (formerly Ansible Tower). 

  • Experience with Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager, Strong PowerShell skills plus experience with other similar tools. 

  • Familiarity with both Windows and Linux operating systems.
