Grand Canyon Education (GCE) is an educational service company that provides an array of support services in the post-secondary education sector. Formerly part of Grand Canyon University (GCU), GCE still supports and works closely with GCU. GCE designs and develops educational programs for GCU and other traditional campus institutions, as well as online partner institutions at the undergraduate, graduate and doctoral levels.

Grand Canyon University is seeking an Athletics Videographer to work with our Athletic teams. This role is part of the marketing services team, which is responsible for creating and producing high-quality, multi-media assets that can be distributed through a variety of digital outlets as a means to market to prospective students, current students, alumni and other audiences relevant to GCU. 

Responsibilities:

  • Conceives of and develops creative solutions for addressing University initiatives through audio-visual mediums.
  • Produces, edits and distributes media content as required which may include photographs, motion pictures, motion graphics, animation, audio and music.
  • Executes shoots at designated location which  includes the set up and direction of  lighting, audio, camera operation and talent.  Additionally, handles complex assignments requiring special lighting, multiple locations, special audio needs, and the use of custom graphics, and animation in the finished production.
  • Works closely with producer in charge, determines content and format of productions, operates editing equipment, and adapts shooting on location rapidly according to stakeholders’ feedback as necessary, handling in a sensitive and diplomatic manner.
  • Edits and assembles final visual/audio material creating compelling and visually interesting products; observes brand standards, ensures consistency and relevancy to production; monitors technical quality of end product; creates photo galleries and slideshows with audio.
  • Produces photographic or video narratives; recommends, determines and procures type of talent needed for voice over work in conjunction with brand standards.
  • Conducts interviews with students, staff, faculty, alumni and campus visitors and ensures that valuable sound bites are captured. 
  • Scouts shoot locations and assesses possible obstacles in filming and provides solutions or alternatives.   
  • Maintains all equipment in proper working order including troubleshooting and minor repairs as necessary.
  • Attends meetings and offers sound, creative insights based on the requests.
  • Works overtime, evening, holidays or weekend hours in order to complete assignments.
  • Ensures any athletic shoots/events meet NCAA compliance with all content by partnering with athletics compliance/communications team.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field from an accredited university or college preferred.
  • Experience in professional commercial broadcast experience preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ working experience in creating and executing cinematic visualizations if does not have bachelor’s degree.
  • Experience in operating Video Cameras, EFP, sound recording equipment and lighting equipment and production. Experience with digital workflows for images and videos.
  • Able to work various hours and days of the week as necessary.
  • Able to travel which may require extended hours or overnights (25% of time).
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license and a good driving record.
  • Able to travel to off-site locations with reliable transportation
  • Able to pass pre-employment background check
  • Sound knowledge of full video with audio production and post production techniques
  • Sound proficiency level in operating equipment in a live multi-camera production environment such as cameras, audio, replay, switchers, etc.
  • Skilled proficiency in encoding and compression production techniques.
  • Sound ability to visualize and shoot concepts effectively; demonstrated ability to apply creative design principles in producing engaging content.
  •  Able to assemble and edit "raw footage" to ensure visual cohesiveness by assessing narrative and visual context.
  • Knowledge of current live streaming platforms (e.g., YouTube, Livestream, Ustream) with ability to keep abreast of new platforms.
  • Skilled proficiency in non-linear editing.
  • Skilled proficiency in using Premiere or Final Cut Pro (Final Cut Pro preferred).
  • Skilled proficiency in using Adobe Creative Suite (i.e. Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects, Sound Booth).
  • Solid ability to technically troubleshoot any production and postproduction issues for solutions.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of customer service principles and skilled in ability to providing top level customer service.
  • Demonstrated ability to work booth cooperatively and independently in a team based work setting; ability to work effectively and professionally with individuals from a variety of backgrounds.
  • Ability to learn new technology platforms and apply in production environments.
  • Must be able to manage time/priorities and multi-task to handle both long term projects and those that require quick or aggressive turnarounds.
  • Responsive to feedback and customer needs even when ambiguous; agile and able to pivot quickly during projects with shifting priorities and themes; open, receptive and willing to use expertise to clarify the goals of customers when they are unsure of the direction they want. 
  • Ability to operate a Mac computer and a proficiency with basic office software.
  • Willing to work overtime, evening, holidays or weekend hours in order to complete assignments..
